HILL DRIVING TRAINING
Abbottabad is built on hills, so our lessons include hill starts, controlled descents, bends and gear choice on real slopes. Hill driving is part of both car courses, in manual or automatic, with more time for it on the 20-day course.
WhatsApp: +92 318 0873739 | Jadoon Plaza, Mandian, AbbottabadOn a flat road a small mistake usually just means a slow start. On a slope it can mean rolling back towards the car behind you or picking up too much speed on the way down. Hills ask for precise clutch or brake control, early gear choices and good judgement on bends where you cannot see far ahead. For anyone who will drive in Abbottabad, these are everyday skills, not extras.
We do not name specific roads here because your instructor plans practice routes around your level and the time of day. You will start on gentle gradients and work up to steeper ones as your control improves.
Moving off uphill without rolling back, using the handbrake.
Selecting a low gear before the slope so the engine helps.
Slowing before the bend, keeping left and looking ahead.
Giving way correctly where two vehicles must share.
In a manual car this usually means releasing the handbrake before the clutch has bitten. We practise finding the biting point, feeling the car settle, and only then releasing the handbrake. In an automatic, we show you how to move your foot from brake to accelerator smoothly.
Constant braking on a long descent heats the brakes and reduces their grip. You learn to choose a low gear before the slope so engine braking does most of the work.
It saves nothing and removes control. We teach you to stay in gear on every descent.
Drifting across the centre on a blind bend is dangerous. You learn to slow early and keep to your side.
Slope work is built into both the 10-day course and the 20-day course. The longer course gives more time on steeper slopes and longer routes. Read our hill driving tips before your lessons, and see manual car training if you are learning with a clutch.
A slope that feels easy on a dry afternoon can behave very differently in rain or fog. Wet roads reduce grip, so hill starts need gentler throttle and descents need lower speed and more distance. In fog, bends become harder to judge because you cannot see what is coming. We talk through these conditions during lessons and, where it is safe, practise in them. Our rain and fog guide covers the basics.
There is no separate charge for hill practice; it is part of learning to drive in Abbottabad. The 20-day course allows more time on the harder slopes.

I rolled back every time at first. After many slow attempts on a gentle slope, it finally clicked.
Using a low gear on the way down was new to me. Now I do it automatically.
The bends worried me more than the slopes. My instructor taught me to slow down early and it made all the difference.
Yes. Your instructor plans practice routes with slopes suited to your level, starting gently and building up.
It needs more clutch control, but with practice it becomes routine. Automatic cars make hill starts simpler.
Yes, slope practice is part of both car courses.
Use the handbrake, find the biting point (in a manual) and only release when the car is ready to pull. Your instructor will practise this with you repeatedly.
